Dark Side of the Fence

Poems by Lamar S. Giles

Dark Side of the Fence was sparked by a recent chain of events, leading to the explosion of racial turmoil. This collection explores hunger & homelessness, racism, American society, and the intricacies of music. This collection sheds light on the inequities facing the downtrodden members of society. In addition, the reoccurring theme is control, which brings these topics together seamlessly.

LaMar S. Giles hails from Linden, New Jersey, and holds a BA in English and a Theater Arts Minor from Rutgers University. Although LaMar is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association, he has been writing his whole life. His participation in poetry readings and Community Theater was a natural progression, leading to the Off-Broadway stage. Also, LaMar has studied abroad in Paris, France. He took some intense art history courses and immersed himself in the French culture, which broadened his horizon and made him worldly. LaMar also attended the University of Hartford, where he discovered his passion for writing poetry. A professor from the English Department took an interest in cultivating his writing skills and, his first poem was published in a magazine in Hartford, CT.
